About

“We’re not a publishing house. We’re two people who’ve started three of these businesses ourselves, and wrote down exactly what worked.”

— Home Side Jobs

Home Side Jobs is a small, opinionated shelf of field guides for the businesses people actually start on the side — not the ones in a franchise brochure. Every title is written by someone who has done the work: run the AI service, kept the books, or detailed the cars.

We hand-pick what goes on the shelf. No ghost-written filler, no thirty-chapter padding. If a guide can say it in 150 pages, it’s 150 pages.

From our readers

Word of mouth, mostly.

Detail by Weekend’s equipment list was the whole reason I could start with $540 instead of guessing and overspending on gear I didn’t need.

Ledger on the Side is the first bookkeeping book that talks about pricing instead of just software. Downloaded it, was billing my second client within three weeks.

Owen K., freelance bookkeeper

I bought the ebook to read that night and the paperback for the shop binder. Didn’t feel like paying twice — felt like I’d actually get through it.
